Scale

Note: 1. Please practice both harmonic and melodic minors.
    (The students do not have to play melodic minors in opposite direction.)

   2. The examiner would choose one for the student to play.

Grade 8 All majors and minors
(the scale of C、G、F、D、B、A、E、E、A、B、D、G Major; the scale of a、e、d、b、g、f#、c、c#、f、g#、b、e minor)
In the same direction The hands are placed on the piano at an interval of an octave; ascend and descend four octaves.
(Practice all scales in legato and staccato ways. End with cadence)
major/ minor third and major/ minor sixth The hands are placed at intervals of major/ minor third and major/ minor sixth, ascend and descend for four octaves. (For majors: Major third + minor sixth. For minors: Minor third + major sixth.)
Arpeggios practice all major and minor chords in arpeggio way (start from the tonic) at an interval of an octave for four octaves (in the same direction) and for two octaves (in the opposite direction).
Cadence Practice in all majors (I-IV-V7-I) and all minors (i-iv-V7-i). The highest tone of the right hand would be root, third, and fifth respectively.

Grade 7 All majors and minors
(the scale of C、G、F、D、B、A、E、E、A、B、D、G Major; the scale of a、e、d、b、g、f#、c、c#、f、g#、b、e minor)
In the same direction The hands are placed on the piano at an interval of an octave; ascend and descend four octaves. (End with cadence)
In the opposite direction The hands are placed on the piano at an interval of two octaves; play the assigned scale for two octaves in the opposite direction.

Grade 6 Majors and minors within five sharps and flats (the scale of C、G、F、D、B、A、E、E、A、B、D Major; the scale of a、e、d、b、g、f#、c、c#、f、g#、b minor)
In the same direction The hands are placed on the piano at an interval of an octave; ascend and descend four octaves.
In the opposite direction The hands are placed on the piano at an interval of two octaves; play the assigned scale for two octaves in the opposite direction.

Grade 5 Majors and minors within four sharps and flats (the scale of C、G、F、D、B、A、E、E、A Major; the scale of a、e、d、b、g、f#、c、c#、f minor)
In the same direction The hands are placed on the piano at an interval of an octave; ascend and descend four octaves.
In the opposite direction The hands are placed on the piano at an interval of two octaves; play the assigned scale for two octaves in the opposite direction.

Grade 4 Majors and minors within three sharps and flats (the scale of C、G、F、D、B、A、E Major; the scale of a、e、d、b、g、f#、c minor)
In the same direction The hands are placed on the piano at an interval of an octave; ascend and descend two octaves.
In the opposite direction The hands are placed on the piano at an interval of two octaves; play the assigned scale for one octave in the opposite direction.

Grade 2 Majors and minors within one sharp and flat (the scale of C, F, G Major; the scale of a, d, e minor)
In the same direction The hands are placed on the piano at an interval of an octave; ascend and descend one octave.
In the opposite direction The hands are placed on the piano at an interval of two octaves; play the assigned scale for one octave in the opposite direction.

Grade 1 Majors within one sharp and flat (the scale of C, G, F Major)
In the same direction The hands are placed on the piano at an interval of an octave; ascend and descend one octave.
In the opposite direction The hands are placed on the piano at an interval of two octaves; play the assigned scale for one octave in the opposite direction.
