Dr. Lydia Tseng

Growing up in Music Talented Program in Taiwan, Ms Lydia Tseng has profound music training. She owns Master of Music Degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music from Eastman School of Music (New York, USA) where she received merit-based Scholarship and Graduate Award of Assistantship under Dr. Jean Barr. During her stay in the US, she was invited with full scholarship to the Castleman Quartet Program, studied under Heasook Rhee, and Music Academy of the West, studied under Jonathan Feldman. Before pursuing overseas studying, Ms Lydia graduated with Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts in Piano Performance from Taipei National University of the Arts.

Ms Lydia was a faculty member of Piano Studies at Mandeville Conservatory of Music since she moved to Singapore in 2012. She was not only instructed lessons, but also participated in syllabus making for Creative Musicianship Classes. Ms Lydia has moved back to Taiwan in 2020 and founds Music studio in Taichung, providing English music lessons to local folks.

Being an active and experienced collaborative pianist, Ms Lydia performed extensively. She has played in Steinway Singapore SG50 Concert Audition, Singapore String Conference, Flute Festival Singapore, Fresh Air Fine Arts Festival, and numerous Mandeville concerts and faculty recitals. During her stay in Singapore, Ms Lydia was also invited to give many piano master classes, instructing her students to achieve excellent results in international competitions and international examinations. Since she moved back to Taiwan, she continues to perform in chamber recitals yearly.

Ms Lydia believes music learning is not only about notes and techniques. One learns self-discipline, persistence and determination along the way. And under the right guidance, music learning can be both enjoyable and rewarding.
