José Antonio Cubela, raised in Miami, Florida. In 2002, he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music degree under the instruction of Dr. Gary Wolf at the University of Central Florida in Orlando in 2002.  At Texas Christian University he graduated with a Master of Music in Piano Performance where he studied under Maestro Harold Martina in 2004.

Cubela received several honors and awards, which include: First Place in the University of Central Florida Piano Concerto Competition, performer at the TCU/Cliburn Piano Institute (now known as Piano Texas Institute), awarded membership into Pi Kappa Lambda, The American Matthay Association and was elected to Who¡¦s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. 

He has been an adjudicator for the Sonata Club Piano Competition, Mid-cities MTA, Weatherford MTA, and the Fort Worth Music Teacher Association¡¦s Piano Competitions and festivals. He is currently the President of the Fort Worth Music Teachers¡¦ Association. In addition to being active in several organizations, he teaches and performs through the Van Cliburn Foundation¡¦s Musical Awakenings Education Programs. He is a professor of piano at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth and Tarrant County Community College. 

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Cubela is an active performer both as a soloist and collaborative pianist. He has premiered piano works by Brazilian composer Daniel Solyom, collaborated with Mejia Ballet, actively performs as a duo-piano team with Dr. Ilka Araujo, and performs with several chamber groups, including with the East Texas Symphony Orchestra in Tyler, Texas. He is also the organist, choir director and music director at Christ the King All Saints Anglican Church in Fort Worth.
