Dr. Rosângela Yazbec Sebba

Dr. Rosângela Sebba combines an active concert and teaching schedule, and is noted for her lecture-recitals and research in Brazilian music, specifically the music of M. Camargo Guarnieri. She is the founder and coordinator of the Brazilian Music Festival and the MSU Piano Pre-College Program and faculty member for the MSU Solo and Ensemble Festival.

She has given recitals, master classes, and lectures in the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, Costa Rica, England and Spain, including national and international conferences such as, the College Music Society, International Villa-Lobos Conference, London International Piano Symposium, LIII Música en Compostela, and International Double Reed Society. As a sought-after chamber musician she has accompanied master classes and concerts of such artists as Simon Estes, Wynton Marsalis, The Emerson String Quartet, Joseph Robinson and Leontyne Price. She has written articles for American Music Teacher, Cambridge University Press/Nineteenth-Century Music Review, and Brazilian newspapers.

Rosângela Sebba served on the board of the Mississippi Music Teachers Association as the Independent Music Teachers Forum Chair and the VP for the Collegiate and National Competitions. She is currently the secretary, grant writer and District Audition Center Chair for the Golden Triangle Music Forum Pre-College Evaluations and is in her fourteenth year at Mississippi State University as Professor and Piano Area Chair, Theory and Ear Training and the Performance Coordinator for the Department of Music. Prior to her current position she taught at Gustav Ritter State Conservatory - Brazil, the University of Southern Mississippi and Pearl River Community College.

In the fall of 2008 Dr. Sebba While there she took classes at the Juilliard School and was invited to perform at David Dubalˇ¦s lecture at the Cervantes Institute, which was broadcasted live on WQXR.

Rosângela Sebba has been part of the Mississippi Arts Commission Artist Roster since 2004, and in 2014 she was inducted as a Steinway Artist, joining its artist roster.
